My posts have been all over the place lately so I thought I'd share a painting with you. After all, this is an art blog. This is a small , 11X14" encaustic piece. I hope it does not turn any of you off to see a nude. I love doing them and have nowhere really to show them other than the odd figure show.
It suprises me how many venues do not allow nudes because they don't want to scare off customers. I can't imagine anything prettier than a well done, tasteful figure painting. The problem is where we draw the line on "tasteful". I've seen many pieces that in my estimation go beyond the tasteful. Each and every one of us has a different line.
What do you think? Should I leave them off the blog? I really want to know.

I vote for continuing your beautiful work. This one is pretty subtle. I don't know how the moderators would judge was is tasteful and what is not. However, if someone is offended, they don't need to visit the particular blog that offends them, right??

I love nudes, think your work is beautiful & look forward to seeing more.
I think that a blog is an extension of our homes. We can decorate how we like. If someone doesn't like it, they should remember that they are a guest. To reassure you, though, I think that this is a very tasteful and beautiful piece.
tasteful nudes, yes, i don't really understand the fear of them. of course it may keep some people away, but other images may keep people away too (i cautiously approach and often leave quickly when i see American flags, cowboys, Reagan, Bush, John Wayne, etc...)

long ago an old german lady commenting on women nursing babies with others pleasant said"whats natural aint wonderful" I believe this would apply to nudes as well. If they offend you dont look! lyle
first time here. enjoyed looking through your site and inspiring encaustics. I enjoyed them so much; looking at the process of the encaustic that I did not even realize she was nude.
The human body is one of the most perfect works of art. Artists have always painted and sculpted and studied the human figure - OF COURSE we should continue this tradition and include it in our own artwork.

I always keep your words and Karon's words in mind when I struggle with the balance. I already can't believe that my little baby is as old as he is already. It does go by fast. I want to do it all!! Noah is my most important "creation" afer all. But I also need to paint to keep sane. :)
